I got utorrent and it says the port is working but the download wont start...

Use the tutorial I wrote up, it works..

And as for the download not starting.. make sure you have NO FIREWALLS, and if you do open them all up and ALLOW UTORRENT to download, especially with ZONE ALARM installed!

If all that's ok, make sure you have SEEDERS/LEECHERS for your torrent, so it actually can start!

Best public sites are: www.torrentspy.com, www.isohunt.com, www.thepiratebay.org - Go to them and download torrents from there and look at there "SEEDER/LEECHER" ratio.. Leechers are in RED colour and SEEDERS are in GREEN colour..

So make sure they have enough GREEN, and not LOTS OF RED!

If you wanna get started with torrents and you don't want to do any advanced configuration then get BitLord from www.BitLord.com, I have been using this and Azureus and have had no problems with BitLord, although Azureus had configuration problems, giving me NAT errors but I found a working port and it seems okay enough.
